What about online therapy?

For clients unable to get to my clinic, I offer online therapy sessions, usually using Zoom.us, which is easily and quickly downloadable, or Skype. Online sessions can be as effective as face-to-face therapy: I've worked sucessfully with clients based in New York, Europe and Scotland! Client's will need a fast, reliable broadband connection and headphones that can be plugged into their laptops.  Payment for these sessions must be made in advance so that they are cleared funds when the session commences.  Please contact should you require further information.

What does it mean to be hypnotised?

Being hypnotised is very similar to daydreaming, you are just in a very relaxed state of mind and body. We call this state ‘trance’. You already do this many times a day, when you’re driving, watching TV, listening to music, jogging or playing sport. You are fully in control at all times during the session. During trance we are able to quieten the voice in our heads that stems from the conscious part of our brain. In so doing we gain access to the sub conscious mind which is less judgemental and can take on board information, ideas and suggestions far more readily.

Can you make me do anything I don’t want to do?

Absolutely not. It will enable people to achieve things they want to achieve, but contrary to TV and film fiction, a hypnotherapist cannot make you do anything you don’t want to.

How will I feel?

Some people are surprised at how ‘normal’ and fully aware of everything around them during trance. There is no right or wrong way to be in a trance and different people experience different things, the only thing everyone has in common is that they feel wonderfully relaxed during and after the experience.

How do you Hypnotise me?

The process starts with me talking you through some form of relaxation process which calms and relaxes both body and mind. This is then followed with positive visualisations and metaphor.

Is it suitable for Children?

I do hold an Enhanced Disclosure Certificate but personally I usually choose to work with individuals of 16 years or older. Success is always dependant on the clients' willingness to work hard at creating change, encouraged by an understanding of the theory behind the process.
