Walk & Talk Therapy
A relatively new form of therapy, increasingly practiced and supported by research carried out by Mind and other charities, which shows how walking in the countryside could help reduce depression and anxiety. In their survey they reported that 71% of respondents felt decreased depression and less tense after a “green” walk, while 90% felt their self-esteem increase after a country walk.
We'll meet initially in my clinic in Appledore where we discuss your best hopes for therapy and how you'd like it to benefit you. At each session thereafter, having met up in central Appledore we'll walk at a pace that suits you around the local area for 30 minutes before returning to my clinic for 20 minutes of mindfulness-style meditation. Many clients are more comfortable walking and talking whilst outside whilst we conduct a Solution Focused conversation and the meditation adds to the enjoyment of the session, leaving you feeling calm, peaceful and with more emotional control.
