So what’s your fear? What gives you the heebie-jeebies? What makes you feel like the world just might end?

Is it wasps, spiders, cats, dogs, snakes? Or perhaps you have travel freak-outs – driving on a motorway or flying away on holiday?

Or maybe you can’t face having an injection or having blood taken. Or perhaps you are afraid of buttons or balloons?

Lots of people have phobias. In fact, about 10% of the population have a phobia of some sort or other. That’s 1 in 10 people! So quite a lot of people are living with a fear that they could actually get rid of, in just a couple of sessions.

What is a phobia

To be concise, a phobia is an irrational fear.

……But to those who suffer it, it doesn’t feel irrational at all! It feels very real and terrifying.

So what stops people getting treatment for phobias?

Often it is the thought of successful treatment, and that they may then end up facing the very thing that terrifies right now.... that thing they are doing their best to avoid! But the thing is, once the phobia is removed and the brain has processed that change, that fear also goes… so in the future there will have no need for that fear at all.

Just imagine not being afraid…. How cool would that be?
